Why Check a New Machine?
Why would you need to check a brand new machine for accuracy? If you ask one our customers in Oregon, they could tell you. Morley had been certifying machines for this undisclosed medical device manufacturer for several years when they called to have two new machines checked for linear and rotary accuracy. It turned out the machines had an underlying problem that needed to be resolved prior to putting the machines into

oil, enabling the machine to handle the weight of the 50-ton bridge assembly. The table has the same features and weighs in at 30 tons with the riser blocks and parts. These features make this type of machine a valuable CNC retrofit candidate for the machining of hard metals such as super alloys and titanium. [read entire article ]

Sun Valley Pavilion: Laser Tracker Triples Productivity
A recent project for Morley was for the new Sun Valley Music Pavilion in Sun Valley, Idaho, the new home of the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. This superstructure contains a 3,000-square foot concert stage and an amphitheater that seats an audience of 1,500.
Morley was contracted by Jesse Engineering Co. of Tacoma, Washington to lay out feature locations on the massive steel framework.
Traditional measuring methods were not a preferred option for this job since the structure’s framework had many complex curves with cross member supports joining at many different angles.
